For Oily Skin:
Your skin is considered an oily one if your face seems shiny and is prone to acne breakout, blackheads or whiteheads. The napkin is usually full of oil after you have dabbed it on your face a few times.
For oily skin, you will need a cleanser that is oil-free that helps strip away the extra oils on your face yet gentle enough to not harm the skin. Liquid and gel cleansers are usually the best option for your daily skin care routine. Exfoliate your skin gently once a week to remove the excess sebum on your face and to scrub away the dirt from clogged pores.
Avoid using heavy-based cream at night as those are rich with oil that may cause more harm than good for your skin. Always put on sunscreen whenever you head out.
For Dry Skin:
People with dry skin type tend to have flaky, dull skin that lacks the lustre of vitality. Different people experience different severity of dry skin. Dry skin is caused by the lack of sebum production to moisturise the skin and that can caused redness, tightness of skin and more visible lines.
For dry skin, hydration is key. Therefore, gentle cleansers that are formulated to hydrate the skin works best. Refrain from using the toner as it may cause even drier skin. Use heavy duty moisturisers especially at night to hydrate the skin while you sleep.
Keep in mind to do weekly skin exfoliation to get rid of skin flakes as these flakes can prevent the moisturising agent from the moisturiser to be absorbed into the skin. Drink as much water as possible throughout the day to keep your skin constantly hydrated.
A facial mist is a great help too throughout the day, especially when you have no time to keep to your daily skin care schedule.
For Combination Skin:
Combination skin usually comprises of an oily T-Zone on the face while the rest are normal or flaky skin. The skin care routine for this type of skin can be a little tricky, and needs to be a little more thorough than the rest of the skin types.
This is because the best way to keep your skin healthy and glowing, you will need to invest and use different products to deal with specific problematic areas. For the oily parts of your skin, you will need to use cleansers that are strong enough to remove the excess sebum production off your skin.
Using a toner, especially those made from botanicals, are best to keep those oily skin at bay. For the other parts of your skin, depending on the issues it have, you will need to focus on cleansers and moisturisers that specifically deal with those issues. For example, for dry, flaky skin, you will need to consider using heavy duty moisturisers to plump up the skin’s hydration level.
If your skin is normal, then you can use a gentle cleanser to wash away the dirt off your face.
For Normal Skin:
You are extremely lucky to be born with a normal skin type as it requires less maintenance than other skin types. However, do not take this for granted because the lack of a good skin care routine will lead to breakout of acnes or blemishes. You will need to focus on cleansers, toners and moisturisers that can generally keep your face clean and refresh daily.
Exfoliating your skin once a week is a must to get rid of dirt and prevent clogged pores. Slab on some sunscreen before heading out under the sun to prevent skin burns.

The most important thing in your skin care routine regardless of what skin type you have is to be devoted in ensuring that your skin has the best care. You will see the results of your meticulous care when you realise your skin is healthy, glowing and is full of vitality. If your skin is experience severe skin issues, it is best to seek a doctor’s or a dermatologist’s advice on how to treat the problematic areas and how to prevent the problem from coming back again.
