How To Wash Face Correctly
“To wash your face, or not to wash your face?” That is the question that has probably crossed your mind on a daily basis especially after tiring day out. Sometimes, you may be tempted to just plonk on your bed with your face caked with make-up after a happening night out with friends. The answer to that question? Yes, washing your face on a daily basis is an essential step in your daily routine of self-care especially in a hectic environment in today’s world.
Washing your face may seem like a simple enough routine with the use of a cleanser and water. However, in order to achieve clean and supple skin, there are steps that you need to adopt into your daily routine. Do these steps on a daily basis, you can see the difference in your skin and your skin will thank you for it.
If you are clueless as to what steps are involved in washing your face the correct way, here is a guide for you.
STEP 1:
The first most important step in all skincare routine is choosing a cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer that are suitable for your skin type. While there is a myriad of choices out there in the market, what you should do is to spend a little time on identifying the type of skin that you have and then look for products that are gentle for your skin type.
If you are unsure on your skin type, it is best to make an appointment with a certified dermatologist and they will be able to help you.
STEP 2:
Now that you have identified your skin type and chosen the products that are suitable for your skin, It is time to put those products to good use.
Before using the cleanser, use lukewarm water to wash your face. Lukewarm water is essential in stripping away the dirt from your skin. Squeeze a small amount of cleanser on your fingertips and begin to gentle rub them on your face using circular motion. This motion encourages blood circulation underneath your skin, giving it a healthy glow. If your face is caked with make-up, ensure that you thoroughly remove them using a make-up remover, and use a gel-based cleanser to effectively get rid of stubborn dirt off your face.
Wash your face again with lukewarm water to rinse off the cleanser and then gently dab your skin with a dry towel. Never wipe your face with the towel as it may stretch your skin causing wrinkles.
STEP 3:
Applying toner after a refreshing wash is not necessarily a must-have step. If you have oily skin however, toner is a great product to use to reduce the oils. Use a cotton ball to apply the toner all over your face, paying close attention to areas that are exceptionally oily.
Remember to dab on toner over your nose and its crevices as they are prone to produce oils. A cotton ball that is soaked enough with toner is quite enough to cover your face. For those who have dry skin, toner is also a great product to use in hydrating your skin. After applying the toner, leave it for a little while to allow your skin to absorb the product.
STEP 4:
After toning, gently massage in a few drops of serum onto your face. Serum is like a healthy glass of fruit juice for your skin. By applying the serum onto your face on a daily basis, you will see that it will plump up your skin with moisture and also deal with the issues you have with your skin such as dry skin, acne and many more. Leave the serum on your face for a little while giving it time for it to work its way into the skin.
STEP 5:
This step is a definite must to complete your basic skin care routine, and this step is called ‘Moisturising’. Applying a good moisturizer on the face will keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Some moisturisers have added ingredients in them to help in anti-aging, fight wrinkles, skin brightening and whitening, and many more. Depending on what goals you would like your skin to achieve, choosing the right moisturizer and applying them on your skin on a daily basis will do wonders.
It is best to use a heavier based moisturiser at night just before going to bed and an SPF one for the daytime to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

These are the complete basic skincare routine that everyone, regardless of gender, should adopt everyday for a healthier, radiant skin. There is no need to hurt your wallet by paying extra money for skincare products.
What is important is that you choose a product, or a range of products that is suitable for your skin type and effectively deals with any skin issue that you are facing.
Lookout for products that are non-alcohol based and uses natural ingredients.
