5 Minutes Skincare for New Mothers
You have just celebrated the biggest milestone in your life – by giving birth to your child and don on the name of ‘mother’. Your attention is fully focused on your newborn, making sure that the little one gets all the care and love.
While that is an entirely normal occurrence of every new mother, it is important to realise that taking care of yourself is equally crucial too, and taking care of your skin is no exception.
The process of pregnancy and childbirth has extreme effect on the skin, from having severe acne breakouts, puffy eyes or dark circles and even dark patches on the skin. These are caused by the extreme changes in the level of hormones. Some may be lucky to bask in the post-pregnancy glow, but many are not so lucky. Don’t be discouraged though, these are mainly temporary.
Some may argue that ‘taking care of our skin’ should take a back seat when the baby comes along. However, let’s also realise that our skin is the largest organ we have that protects us from the harmful UV rays, dusts, bacteria and many more. Hence, while it may not be a priority, putting aside at least 5 minutes a day to take care of your skin can make a whole lot of difference.
Here are some of the ways you can use in your daily skincare routine while taking care of a newborn:
Drink plenty of water. Water is an essential ingredient to help keep the skin healthy and supple. It also helps flush out the toxins from your body.
Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise. Just remember to CTM everyday, the basic of all skincare basics. It is best to use skincare products that are made from natural ingredients as the skin are still sensitive during the first few months after birth. You can always give Living and Pace a go as your go-to products as they contained mainly natural ingredients that are gentle yet effective on the skin.
Put on hydrating mask at least once a week. This is to allow the moisture to seep into your skin to revitalise the cells within. Take this also as a time to pamper and relax yourself amidst the hectic schedule of caring for a newborn.
Get as much sleep as possible. Find ways to be in tune with your baby’s sleeping patterns so you can sneak in as much winks as possible to allow your body to rest. This will allow the cells to function at its optimum level to repair itself to protect you from harmful elements from the environment.
5 minutes are really all it takes to keep your skin as healthy as possible while you enjoy being a mother. If you would like to try out products that are made up of natural ingredients but don’t know what is best for you, let us know and we will be glad to help you to kickstart your skincare journey.
